Joy Pierre Owner at Georgie Ophelia Luxury Goods
Joy Pierre Owner at Georgie Ophelia Luxury Goods Georgie & Ophelia Luxury Candles is the culmination of my infatuation with scent, along with a passion for fashion, beauty, and creativity. Based in Virginia Beach, VA, G&O was conceived from my desire to create the perfect candle. In 2019, I began the arduous journey of learning everything there is to know about the science, and the art of candle making and scent creation. The most important things to me were to use all-natural ingredients that were sustainable and good for the earth. Also, I spent countless hours researching the benefits of coconuts in healthcare so I knew I wanted to use a pure coconut wax blend. Every single candle is delicately crafted by hand in small batches to ensure each and every one gets the intimate care that it deserves. With the support of my husband and family, I resigned from my career in the real estate industry and devoted all of my time and effort into working on G&O full-time. Now, we have launched our website which reaches candle-lovers from all of the country and we opened our very first G&O candle boutique at Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach this fall. This brand was created in honor of my parents George and Vernonda Ophelia. Everything from our name to our blush pink branding was thoughtfully created in remembrance of my mother who passed away from breast cancer in 2006. I have a huge circle of family and friends and from a very young age my parents instilled in me the importance of connections and relationships. I married the love of my life five years ago and we have four wonderful sons, but throughout my life I have experienced the full gamut of love from being a single parent, to dating and ultimately to getting my dream wedding. When I created G&O, I wanted to encapsulate the totality of all of these emotions - from the warm summer nights spent at the Oceanfront to the month-long birthday celebrations; to the allure of passions and romance that captivates every sense. G&O was created to re-connect people at a time when social distancing and social media has society more anti-social than it has ever been.
