Samuel Gachwe Kariuki is a Director, Human Resources at The Rockefeller Foundation, Africa Region Office. He joined the Foundation in March 2021 and serves as the HR thought partner in the Africa Regional Office.
Sam is a Pan-African HR leader with over 20 Years HR experience across East, West, South and North Africa. He has lived and worked in 7 African countries (Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Tanzania and Uganda). Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Sam was the Chief People Officer at Cellulant Group and was based in Abuja, Nigeria. In 2016, Sam joined M-KOPA ltd as the Chief Human Resources Officer where he led the People function for the Group. Between 2001 and 2016, Sam held various HR leadership roles including HR Division Manager at the African Development Bank (AfDB), Head of HR Operations at Safaricom Limited and Compensation & Benefits Manager for SSA at Citibank.
