With the COVID-19 crisis impacting all parts of the world, air transport has been one of hardest hit industry sectors.
Country, corporate and individual travel restrictions have resulted in unprecedented disruption to schedules, thousands of aircraft grounded, and airports empty. It is estimated that Malaysian airline passenger traffic has declined by around 85%. The aviation supply chain has been similarly impacted and this in turn will have a follow on effect on the complete aerospace industry. The question is how does the Malaysian air transport industry stay relevant and develops a sustainable business model going forward.
