IIA Kenya will conduct the inaugural Internal Audit and Risk Awards to recognize organizations and individuals that have achieved high standards in Internal Audit Governance. The awards also recognize innovations in the adoption of Internal Auditing standards, the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), by individuals and high-performing audit teams. The Awards will also present an opportunity for participants to understand the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIS) that are effective 2025 and role of the standards in strengthening Internal Audit Governance.

The Awards Gala Dinner will be held on April 12, 2024, from 6 p.m.-10 p.m., at Ole Sereni, Nairobi. Charges are KES 8,000 exclusive of VAT for individuals and KES 72,000 exclusive of VAT for a table of 10 for corporates. Members in attendance will earn 4 CPE Hours.

Leonard Okoth is an audit leader with more than 16 years experience in Assurance, Governance and Risk Management. He is currently the Chairperson of IIA Kenya and Acting Director, Internal Audit and Risk Department at the Central Bank of Kenya. Previously, he worked with Safaricom as Senior Manager, Internal Audit and Housing Finance as Internal Auditor.
Leonard has extensive Board experience spanning many organisations. Currently Board member Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, where he is the Chairman of Internal Audit Standards Committee. Previously, He served as Board Audit Committee member of Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, Board member Safaricom Sacco and Board Chair, Kwoyo High School in Homa Bay.
Leonard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Maseno University and a Masters degree in Strategic Management from United States International University. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He holds a certificate in Senior Management Leadership from Strathmore University and Nanyang Business School, Singapore.
He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, Information Systems Audit and Control Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and Institute of Directors Kenya.
