André is a well-known business expert, public speaker, author, and media personality. He has travelled around the world in his quest to understand the challenges facing entrepreneurs, leaders, marketers and family-owned businesses and the best practices to deal with those challenges. He has an extensive background in business and marketing strategies in various economic sectors and, in his managerial capacity at Old Mutual, worked on business and marketing strategies with various consulting & marketing agency firms, such as McKinsey’s & Company, Gemini, Boston Consulting, and Heroes. André has published ten books and over 2500 articles in newspapers and business magazines on important business, financial, and leadership lessons. SAKE RAPPORT listed his book, BEMARK of BEVARK jy, as one of the four best business books for 2014. In November 2020, André published A Tale of Two Brothers (a spiritual novel). He had to reprint the book within 2 months. His newest book, NALATENSKAP (LEGACY), is an Afrikaans novel about the trials and tribulations that take place in family businesses. The publisher, Naledi, reprinted the book in six weeks. He appeared on national TV over 400 times and still appears over 150 times per annum on the radio. André captures his acute sense of business and keen fascination with nature into practical lessons for the business world in his books: Business Jungle, and two other books. In 2011, André requested Old Mutual to retire early as a National Marketing Manager to follow his PASSION in LIFE to enable FAMILY BUSINESSES to create positive futures for their family and their business. He consulted over 400 family-owned businesses AND other businesses in various economic sectors. André believes that leadership and values are two sides of the same coin and that ethical values enable businesses to instil harmony in business. He is the owner of André Diederichs & Associates AND an accredited family business consultant and the founding member and chief convenor of FABASA (Family Business Association of South Africa). André was a member of FFI (Family Firm Institute), an international association for family-owned businesses.
