Shopping online and settling the transaction fully through an e-payment system could take a while to be widely practised in Myanmar. However, almost a decade since the acceleration of change in the telecommunications market, nationals of Myanmar have become more familiar with the cashless lifestyle. The role of payment processors between the merchant and customer has been of vital importance for the growth of online payments in the country.

As Myanmar welcomes both globally renowned payment processing firms and locally acclaimed platforms, what has been the experience of promoting such platforms? To what extent have those payments platforms operating in Myanmar helped propel the growth of e-payment and accelerated financial inclusion in a country of 54 million people? How will the firms make the best out of the surge seen in usage for e-commerce platforms in Myanmar during the pandemic period? The payments processing majors in the country will have the answers for these questions, among others.
