Thriving in the Emerging Hybrid Workplace

The debate over what mix of remote, hybrid and in-office working arrangements works best rages across social media, the C-suite, and the kitchen table. Many at the top of the hierarchy are keen to see employees back in the office full-time, while those in the knowledge worker ranks much prefer working remotely. Hybrid working is the grand compromise, but whether it will satisfy or disappoint all parties is an open question. Conventional wisdom holds that collaboration with co-workers and connections to the organization and its culture are best fostered in-person and thus workers need to be together most of the time. But is this true?

In this virtual event, Tony and Arbin will tackle this question and other pressing aspects of the future of work debate drawing on the Hackett Group's latest poll of the remote and in-office work experiences of over 500 individual contributors. They will be joined by Julie and April who will share their hybrid working strategies, key practices, and implementation experiences.

Among the pressing issues that our session leaders will discuss are:

  • What is the most common hybrid working policies?
  • How do hybrid working policies affect collaboration and connections among co-workers and to the organization?
  • How do hybrid working policies affect employee productivity, engagement, and loyalty?
  • Does collaboration really happen better in person than virtually? In what ways is virtual collaboration better than in-person?
  • What obstacles are common to both virtual and in-person working? Which are more prominent in each work context?
  • What are the most effective practices for enabling in-person and virtual collaboration?
  • Do workers feel stronger connections to their colleagues and to the organization when they spend more time together in the same physical location? Can connections be built and reinforced virtually?
