Train-the-Teacher: MakerSpace Tool Trainings

As part of Generator's MakerSchool Program we now offer Train-the-Teacher: MakerSpace Tool Trainings, professional development courses that address safety and maintenance operations, curriculum integration, and lesson planning to utilize makerspace tools. Trainings include: Laser Cutter, 3D Printer; Vinyl Cutter; Sewing; and Electronics. This learning series will be offered every Fall, Winter, and Spring for the next three years to ensure our MakerSchool partners receive the necessary training to build out, sustain, and enhance STEAM learning through maker education. Each training has 12 spots that will be made first available to educators at MakerSchools, and then opened up to Vermont educators as space allows.

Specific Training Description

This training provides an introduction to the PinBox 3000, a cardboard pinball arcade kit. Participants will learn a range of basic and advanced cardboard construction techniques as well as the keys to successful PinBox design; we will also discuss how to integrate 3D printed, laser-cut, magnetic, and integrated circuit components. Educators will each leave with their own PinBox 3000 kit, useful paper and digital tutorials, and a range of cool project ideas.

In partnership with the Greenway Institute, this training will be held in their Fab Lab at their Montpelier campus .

Innovation Lab Instructor
Eli Rosenberg is in his 21st year at Main Street Middle School and his 26th year teaching Science, Social Studies, and running the MSMS Innovation Lab. He has also taught in Swanton, Hardwick, and the International School of Tbilisi.
Eli believes in a hands-on, minds-on learning environment in which students develop their collaborative skills, fluency with technology, and creativity as they dig deep into the challenges of creating meaningful and sustainable lives in the 21st century. He strives to create a team culture that is oriented towards personal growth and community connection.
When Eli is not working, he enjoys cooking, making art, snowboarding, and boardgames. Eli agrees with Steve Jobs that the journey is the reward.
