Disrupting Africa with Artificial Intelligence with Ekow Duker and SAS

Ekow is an oil field engineer, turned banker, data analyst and author who strives to use his storytelling abilities in the data science field. Since leaving the oil business, he has worked mainly as a corporate strategist and in banking as a Chief Analytics Officer, roles that, at their core, are really all about storytelling. He grew up in Ghana, studied in the UK, US and France and now lives and works in Johannesburg.

He is co-founder of Zindi, an AI start-up that is now Africa's largest professional network for data scientists and acts as a data science competition platform, dedicated to solving Africa's problems by bringing together a community of data scientists who collaborate and compete to come up with the best possible solutions.

His debut novels, White Wahala and Dying in New York, were published in 2014 and were followed in 2016 by The God Who Made Mistakes, and in 2019 by his fourth and most ambitious novel, Yellowbone. In his spare time, he works on bringing down a stubborn golfing handicap and divides his time unevenly between data science and writing.
