While so much uncertainty regarding the transportation and packaging requirements remains; approved vaccines, planning, communication, and collaboration are necessary to prepare in the coming weeks to meet those requirements. The pressure to deliver a safe and effective vaccine increases due to the current COVID-19 situation. As we lead our path in this direction, PASIA is very pleased to announce the first of a series of webinars on Vaccine Supply Chain Management. There is a lot of apprehensions out there and some misinformation brought about by anti-vaccination movements and social media - thereby the need for more education. We are hoping that our planned webinar will be able to address these misconceptions. Immunization is critical in saving lives and that enough of the population is immunized to stop the spread of the virus. This webinar will present the complex journey of the vaccines from their manufacturing stage to exploring the global challenges needed to distribute them. Our speakers will examine the process of transforming resources into vaccines from their source, including the quality criticality, time, and differences from that of a regular drug. Moreover, we will look at distribution from the manufacturer to the patient, and the challenges that are inherent to different temperature levels required for each vaccine being developed, and the need for ultra-low temperature for some. These sessions will encourage our attendees to better understand the impact of geographical location, complex manufacturing, and the scale of distribution.
