Virtual CME – Infant Feeding with Dr. Bridget Young, PhD

The North Zone Lactation & Infant Feeding CME group is excited to announce our upcoming virtual continuing medical education session on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 7:00–9:30 PM MST.

We are honoured to host Dr. Bridget Young, PhD, also known as The Baby Formula Expert. Dr. Young is a researcher at the University of Rochester and the Director of Research for the Division of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. She is also affiliated with the LILAC Breastfeeding Medicine Fellowship Program. Her work is supported by grants and remains free from industry sponsorship.

Presentation Focus: Dr. Young will share her expertise on commercial milk substitutes, with a focus on Canadian products. Topics will include:

  • Understanding human milk substitute constituents and their roles
  • How these components may impact allergies and irritability in infants
  • Choosing appropriate formulas for your patients
  • How to critically evaluate new products—without relying on marketing

This session is ideal for providers working with young families, and anyone wanting to better understand formula selection in the Canadian context.

Cost & Contribution: There is a USD $299 honorarium for Dr. Young's time. We kindly ask attendees to contribute a minimum of $20 CAD if they are able. E-transfer to kellymacgregormd@gmail.com.

If we exceed the fundraising goal, all extra proceeds will be donated to Mesh of Motherhood, an Edmonton-based BIPOC motherhood organization.
