About Our Panelists

Fr. Peter Julia is the Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon. In this role, he supports the journey of all who are discovering God's call in their lives, and especially accompanying men who are discerning and preparing for priesthood for the Archdiocese. He also recently became an officer for the Oregon Air National Guard as a Catholic Chaplain for the 142nd Fighter Wing.

Fr. Peter was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in the Catholic faith. Growing up he also lived in New Jersey and Texas before graduating from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a bachelor's degree in Health and Fitness Studies. After living in Texas, Fr. Peter moved to Colorado Springs and finally to his home in Portland in 2008.

Prior to seminary, Fr. Peter worked in the Outdoor industry as a rock-climbing instructor, coach, and guide. He also worked in the Bicycle Industry in management, sales, and repair. Fr. Peter was a parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland and studied philosophy for two years at Mt. Angel Seminary in the pre-theology program.

Fr. Peter attended the Pontifical North American College in Vatican City, receiving his bachelor's degree and his Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. Fr. Peter was ordained a transitional deacon at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, and ordained a priest in 2019!

Fr. Peter has attended pastoral ministry assignments at Central Catholic High School in Portland, The Providence Benedictine Nursing Center in Mt. Angel, Marymount International School in Rome, Italy, and the Naples Navy Base in Naples, Italy. Prior to his current role as Vocations Director, he completed a two-year assignment as the Parochial Vicar at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Beaverton.

In his free time, Fr. Peter enjoys rock climbing, guitar, hockey, pool, training for fitness, and making rosaries!

Brenda Aikin is a producer and radio show host at Portland's local Catholic station, Mater Dei Radio. She joined the station in 2018 as a producer and on-air talent, beginning first with the 1-hour show The Morning Drive. Brenda then made the switch to the current 2-hour daily live show The Morning Blend, one of the station's most popular and accessible shows with over 10,000 podcast downloads per year, and countless radio tune-ins! In this role, Brenda has been incredibly supportive of YCP, promoting our events and interviewing many of our past and current leadership team.

Since 2020, Brenda has also produced an additional original radio show, View From the Pew, which she hosts with her husband Deacon Scott Aikin (whom you may recognize as a previous YCP speaker!). Together they draw from their experiences as a family since Scott's ordination to the diaconate for the Archdiocese of Seattle in 2007. As a deacon's wife, Brenda has also served on the Archbishop's Council of Permanent Deacons for the Archdiocese of Seattle.

Brenda was born in southern California, where she attended Catholic grade school and met Scott in their church's High School youth group! They were married in 1989 and now have 4 wonderful children.

Brenda attended Palomar Jr. College and Humboldt State University, both in California. She is a certified NFP practitioner from Pope Paul VI Institute, Creighton University. Prior to working at the radio station, Brenda learned about Catholic devotions, authors, and prayer through her work at the local Queen of Peace Catholic bookstore. For fun, Brenda enjoys camping, golf, and cooking!

Thomas D. Prevish, PhD, PE, CEM, is a mechanical engineer who has been working on energy and power generation projects for commercial and residential buildings for 25 years, with prior experience in the aerospace industry. He is currently serving as President of NorthWest Engineering Service, Inc., an employee-owned company of approximately 60 people with offices in Oregon and Idaho.

Tom has also been a member of international code and safety committees for hydrogen and fuel cells, has led projects with key industry players in North America, Europe, and Asia, and has been an adjunct professor for local colleges and universities. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Oregon, Washington, and Pennsylvania!

Tom is a lifelong Catholic who has volunteered in numerous capacities for parishes in the several states he's lived in, experiencing the range of joys and challenges found from small country chapels that share a traveling priest, to large churches with affluent, active ministries. Tom has been married for 30 years, and he and his wife have seven children!
