Summary

This event aims to analyse and understand all aspects of the logistics, customs and regulatory framework in which the China-Lao Railway will operate. We will also investigate with the speakers which opportunities a better connectivity will bring to Laos and discuss with the DG of Cross Border Transport all reforms and regulations around improving import/export to and from Laos.

About the Event

The Lao-China Railway, which will connect Lao PDR to the entire network of the Belt and Road Initiative, will transform Lao PDR from a landlocked country to a land-linked economy, merging Laos with the international and regional supply chain. The railway is due to open December 2nd 2021, on the occasion of the Lao National Day.


Little is currently known about the train operation and logistics and how businesses can access its' services.

This event aims to analyse and understand all aspects of the logistic, customs and regulatory framework in which the China-Lao Railway will operate. Speakers will also discuss opportunities generated by the improved connectivity, aiming to drive the economic development of Lao PDR. They will also cover proposed reforms that could be taken by GOL in order to facilitate business operations and attract good quality Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Lao PDR.



The event aims to: 

  • Inform the business community about the framework the China Lao railway will operate within.
  • Provide a better understanding of the economic impact of Lao-China Railway in the Lao PDR
  • Provide insights on opportunities for Lao businesses or foreign investors
  • Discuss reforms taken/to be undertaken by the Government of Lao PDR
