In this class students will learn how to use traditional woodworking equipment to square up rough sawn lumber. In the process, students will learn terminology related to wood anatomy (long grain vs. end grain, knots, hardwood vs. softwood) and basic woodworking manufacturing supply chains (dimensional lumber vs. dressed lumber). They will also learn all the names and safe operation of equipment in the woodshop (powered stationary, powered hand tools and manual tools) excluding the CNC router, table router and the lathe.

Attendance at both sessions is mandatory.
