Michigan Future is a think tank focused on developing state policies that raise the incomes of all Michigan households. Building on the recent expansion of the State's Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), they recently released a proposal for a Working Parents Tax Credit (WPTC) here in Michigan. The WPTC would be a fully refundable tax credit that would provide all EITC-eligible parents with employment earnings of at least $10,000 with a $5,000 per child credit for each child under 3, and a $2,500 credit for each child between 3 and 5. The policy is designed to help both combat the "benefit cliff" and help parents pay for childcare.
During this webinar, Patrick Cooney, a vice president at Michigan Future, will be discussing the proposal and what interested organizations can do to support its passage.
