Mr. Abhay Sharma is a Partner in the Firm’s tax practice. He specialises in direct taxation, with his key focus areas being cross border and domestic taxation, tax advisory in the private equity and M&A space, funds taxation, inbound/outbound investment structuring and corporate structuring/restructuring. Abhay advises some of the largest global private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and multi-national corporations. His work experience includes helping set up the Indian co investment platform for one of the largest pension boards in the world (it was recognised by IBLJ as the deal of the year- RE category), acting as tax counsel for one of world’s largest sovereign funds (by way of assets under management) for multiple investment transactions, providing international tax advisory services to the global leader in financial communication networks and acting as a tax advisor to a Fortune 500 telecommunication service provider. He also helped develop the outbound investment structure for one of India’s largest manufacturers of glass products. Abhay is a member of the International Fiscal Association. He was also the country tax reporter for the International Bar Association in 2014 and 2015. He periodically conducts training sessions for the Chamber of Tax Consultants, as well as the Income Tax department on a host of tax issues including those in the private equity and M&A space.
