Memberships

Every candidate for election or transfer to the class of Life Member shall satisfy the Council of the following:

• Holder of a certificate of competency (CoC) of any grade;
• Holder of a maritime-affiliated Degree plus 12-months service with a maritime entity;
• Holder of a general Degree with 24-months service with a maritime entity;
• Any other qualification deemed appropriate to the council;
• Pilot License acceptable to the council

2. Members' welfare and privileges being taken care of;

• Ratings holding certificates of proficiency.

Every candidate for election or transfer to the class of Fellows shall satisfy the Council of the following:

Member of IKMAL for at least 5-years & attained a superior position of responsibility in the maritime field for at least three (3) years & made a significant contribution to the objectives of IKMAL and/or to the maritime industry; should not be less than 35 years of age.

Every candidate for election or transfer to the class of Honorary Fellows shall satisfy the Council of the following:

Conferred by IKMAL on any person who holds a position of respect or of honour and who has rendered distinguished service to IKMAL and/or the maritime profession.
