WHAT IS THE ASSOCIATION OF CANADIAN COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION(ACCP)?

ACCP is the not-for-profit trade association for the television commercial production industry in Toronto. Our members are engaged in the production of screen based digital advertising content for distribution on television and over the internet.


WHO IS ACCP?

ACCP represents 90% of all commercial production companies in Toronto. ACCP's membership draws upon a hugely diverse group of companies and individuals involved in the production of television and screen based commercials.


WHAT DOES ACCP DO?

ACCP:

  • communicates with all levels of Government as an industry lobby
  • provides a forum in which the views of advertisers, their agencies and suppliers can be aired
  • distributes to members news of issues, technologies and trends affecting the advertising and broadcast industries
  • researches and publishes operating terms, conditions and guidelines reflecting industry best practices with respect to a range of production related matters, including health and safety, quoting, contracting, and billing and payment procedure
  • acts on behalf of its members as a referral service to potential clients & producers wishing to do business in Canada.


HOW IS ACCP RUN?

Day to day communication is routed through the ACCP office to the attention of Executive Director, Michelle D'Ercole.

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

The ACCP is an association of independent GTHA-based companies committed to promoting the interests of its membership and the sector through advocacy and the sharing of best practices. Companies that meet the eligibility criteria may apply for a one-year, non-transferable membership.

In order to become a member of the ACCP, applicants must:

  1. Fall within one of the three categories as described in the Types of Membership section.
  2. Have an ongoing, physical office in the GTHA and, with respect to Production House Members and Post Production Members, employ an Executive Producer (or equivalent) who resides in the GTHA.
  3. Agree to be bound by the bylaws of the corporation and its Code of Conduct
  4. Agree to a statement of principle that they are joining to be active, productive and committed members of the commercial production community.
  5. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  6. Promptly pay annual dues by transferring to payments@theaccp.tv. Alternatively, members can mail a cheque to ACCP, P.O. Box 92091, RPO Piazza Villagio, Woodbridge, Ontario, L4H 3J3.


TYPES OF MEMBERSHIPS

MEMBERSHIP DEFINITION:

Membership in ACCP is available to the Canadian Commercial or Post Production community as defined by these membership categories:


Production House Member

Production House Members shall be independently owned and controlled Production Companies engaged primarily in the business of producing commercials for television, cinema and/or the internet; and is neither wholly nor partly owned, operated or controlled, directly or indirectly, by an advertising agency or an advertiser, nor has on its staff an employee of an advertising agency or advertiser; and have applied and been accepted for Production House membership in the Corporation and is up to date on its yearly dues.


Post Production Member

Post Production Company Members shall be independently owned and controlled post production companies engaged primarily in the business of post-producing commercials for television, cinema and/or the internet; and is neither wholly nor partly owned, operated or controlled, directly or indirectly, by an advertising agency or an advertiser, nor has on its staff an employee of an advertising agency or advertiser; and have applied and been accepted for Post Production membership in the Corporation and is up to date on its yearly dues.


Supplier Member

Supplier Members shall be persons or Vendors who provide equipment and/or services primarily to the commercial production and/or commercial post-production industry; and have applied and been accepted for Supplier Member membership in the Corporation and is up to date on its yearly dues.

MEMBER VOTING RIGHTS AND RATES:


Production House Member entitling me/us to five (5) Voting Shares and one full year's membership in ACCP. In exchange for the voting rights afforded me, I agree to remit to ACCP upon receipt of invoice, a cheque in the amount of $4,500.00 plus HST.


Post Production Member entitling me/us to three (3) Voting Shares and one full year's membership in ACCP. In exchange for the voting rights afforded me, I agree to remit to ACCP upon receipt of invoice, a cheque in the amount of $1,000.00 plus HST.


Supplier Member entitling me to a one year membership in ACCP. In exchange, I agree to remit to ACCP upon receipt of invoice, a cheque in the amount of $1,000.00 plus HST.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

In order to become a member of the ACCP, applicants should:

  • Complete and sign an Application
  • Be sponsored by two current members of the ACCP.
  • Have an ongoing, physical office in the GTHA and, with respect to Production House Members and Post Production Members, employ an executive producer (or equivalent) who resides in the GTHA.
  • Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Agree to be bound by the ACCP Code of Conduct.
  • Production and Post Production Companies should agree to a statement of principle that you are joining to be active, productive and committed members of the commercial production community.

The ACCP will notify applicants of their status upon evaluation of their application. New members will be considered accepted upon receipt of their annual dues, which can be paid by transfer to payments@theaccp.tv.
