The OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) is now live for public inspection on the Federal Register:
2021-23643.pdf (federalregister.gov). More resources are being posted now to the OSHA website.
As we announced in September as part of the
President’s COVID-19 Action Plan, through the ETS covered employers must develop, implement, and enforce a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy unless they adopt a policy requiring employees to choose either to get vaccinated or to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing. It also requires employers to provide paid time to workers to get vaccinated and paid sick leave to recover from any side effects. OSHA estimates this rule will save over 6,500 worker lives and prevent over 250,000 hospitalizations during the 6 months after implementation.
OSHA has updated its website with a variety of materials on the ETS. Please see
here.
Also, next week OSHA will plan to host webinars for education stakeholders. The times of the webinars are below.
Please distribute through your members/networks to anyone with interest in learning more about the ETS in the context of K12 and higher ed – and please flag extra for those in the 28 State Plan states/territories so they can learn more about its effect on the public sector organizations (including schools, colleges, and universities in those states/territories).
- Friday, November 12 at 1:00-1:45 pm ET: ETS briefing with focus on K12
- Friday, November 12 at 2:00-2:45 pm ET: ETS briefing with focus on Higher Ed
I’ll let you know when I have links to access webinars. If you receive questions, please compile and send them my way early next week so I can share w with OSHA in advance, and so they can address as many of them as possible in the session.
