| HBI Offers Pre-Apprenticeship Program |

HBI offers pre-apprenticeship and advanced training, certification programs, assistance in obtaining apprenticeships, and job placement services in construction. We provide students with the skills and experience they need to build a career in the building trades. I am contacting you in regards to a grant program that we offering to schools. The Schools to Skills Grant provides funding to implement HBI’s nationally recognized Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) curriculum, advancing the CTE or construction trades programs at secondary schools nationwide. We want to bring “shop-class” back to schools. In addition, the Schools to Skills grant offers the following benefits: - Students learn basic construction trade fundamentals and develop hands-on technical skills working on projects
- Students are exposed to an alternative choice outside of traditional college, learn valuable trade skills that can help them obtain a good-paying job after graduation
- Students can receive certification, in nine construction trade specialty areas, which is recognized and validated by the building industry
- The grant is a quick and easy application, with no need for a grant writer

The Princeton Summer Journalism Program (PSJP) offers a tuition-free journalism institute and college counseling program for high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds. Participants spend 10 days in late July/early August at Princeton University, where they learn about inquiry and truth in reporting through workshops taught by Princeton University professors and professional journalists. The summer institute culminates in the publication of the student-produced newspaper, The Princeton Summer Journal. Although we welcome students who have been actively involved in journalistic activities, no prior experience is required to qualify.
Students apply through three rounds of consideration during their junior year and begin participation the following summer. During their senior year, students work closely with a volunteer college counselor to complete the college admissions process.
Covers all programmatic costs, including housing, travel, meals, and supplies.
The application is now open and will be due Monday, Feb 28, 2022. Please do spread the word to students and educators in the meantime. Register for a public information session, attend an educator's "coffee hour", request a virtual school visit, or refer a student via our website. |
