Due July 5th

Through the NREA Foundation, the Chance family funds this award in recognition of doctoral research that significantly contributes to rural education and addresses issues of current concern. The dissertation judged most meritorious receives the award, and we recognize the author at the NREA National Convention.

In this episode of the Rural Voice, we interview Mr. Hamish Brewer, one of our scheduled speakers, for the NREA conference in Chattanooga in October 2023. Mr. Brewer came to the United States from New Zealand as part of a teacher-cultural exchange program. He talks about leaving people better than he finds them by keeping dialog “real” and honoring others’ successes, and how culture plays a role in our performance. We want kids to be “loved, seen, and heard.”

To truly meet the needs of learners, we must remove the geographic barriers that limit access and opportunity, particularly for learners in rural communities. This resource, developed in partnership with the Southern Regional Education Board and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, supports state and local leaders in the development of policies and programs that advance the expansion of CTE and work-based learning within and across states.
