NREA's family lost a rural champion on Monday, December 21st. Phil Gerik was a career-long member of NREA and TREA. He was an Executive Committee Member for the past 5-years. He served on numerous committees and teams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Helen Smajstrla Families Need Fund, a fund established to aid struggling families in the West area. Donations for the Need Fund may be sent to P.O. Box 423, West, TX 76691.
