RSC's Grants in Place
The Rural Schools Collaborative's Grants in Place program consists of two primary components: RSC's Celia B. Godsil Grants in Place Fellows program, which was launched in 2019, and the National Signature Project Award in collaboration with the National Rural Education Association. The Fellows program is limited to teachers who teach in public schools that are located in the geographic regions of RSC Regional Action Hubs, and the National Signature Project Award is open to any rural public school teacher in the United States of America.

Getting COVID-19 vaccines to rural Americans is harder than it looks – but there are ways to lift the barriers
The enormous job of vaccinating the nation is underway, but for rural Americans, getting a COVID-19 vaccine becomes harder the farther they are from urban centers.
The current vaccines’ cold storage requirements and shipping rules mean many rural hospitals can’t serve as vaccination distribution hubs. That can leave rural residents – about 20% of the U.S. population – traveling long distances if they’re able to travel at all.

Teachers Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Schools with 1:1 Computing
This article shares the findings of a mixed-method study about the implementation of 1:1 computing in a small rural Florida school district. Researchers used multiple regression analyses to examine whether Davis’ (1989) Technology Acceptance Model helped explain teachers’ adoption of 1:1. The results indicated that the rural teachers’ perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of 1:1 were significant predictors of both whole class and individualized instructions with 1:1. The qualitative phase of the study explored the ways in which the teachers integrated 1:1 into their instructional practices and what factors motivated them to do so. The analysis showed that the teachers used 1:1 largely to foster digital literacy and collaboration as well as to conduct student assessments. Reasons, why the teachers integrated 1:1 into instruction, including increasing student engagement, personalizing learning, and facilitating teacher productivity.
