The Virginia Tech Center for Rural Education is also hosting a focused on Black Rural Education on Feb 21 at 4 pm (EST). This "front porch conversation" will explore the intersections of identity and rural education for Black students, educators, families, and communities.

Hailing from South Carolina, Dr. Darris Means has been actively engaged with the National Rural Education Association, serving as a member of the NREA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Team from 2019-2022 and serving on the editorial board for The Rural Educator since 2019. Most recently, Means joined our Executive Board.
