STEM Opportunities in Prison Settings (STEM-OPS) News Bites!
Dear Subscriber,

We have news to share, and we just can’t wait for our next quarterly newsletter (April 2022) to share it. We will keep you informed of STEM-OPS updates of note through these periodical STEM-OPS News Bites. We encourage you to share these bites with others in your circles.

We've just published our latest STEM-OPS blog post! Read what Laura Fittz, Affiliated Doctoral Student for Vanderbilt University's Initiative for Race Research and Justice (RRJ), wrote about how she previously perpetuated the school-to-prison pipeline, but how she is now working to dismantle it.

We’ve also just posted Episode 2 of The sySTEM Impacted podcastThis episode features Dr. Richard H. Milner, author and distinguished professor of Vanderbilt University. Dr. Milner breaks down how elementary and high school teachers and staff can adjust their curricula, teaching styles, representation of teachers of color in STEM courses, and attentiveness to students of color and students as a whole, to curb the rates at which young people are entering the prison system.
