On Wednesday (2/28), the House Local Government Committee considered testimony for H608, aiming to establish agricultural protection areas while also limiting condemnation authority for highway districts and county road and bridge departments within those zones.
Following over two hours of input from highway professionals, government associations, agricultural stakeholders, and public servants, concluding with a substantial debate on sending the bill to the amending order, the committee approved the bill in its current form. It will now proceed to the House floor for a vote.
