Dear Dear BritCham Supporter,
Navigating the weekly changes in lockdown, curfew, and travel restrictions across Cambodia has been difficult throughout April, but we are all hoping for good news in the coming weeks.
We see daily reports of the highly successful vaccination program rolling out across Phnom Penh and Kandal. As we write 6% of the population have now been fully vaccinated, 73k vaccines were administered yesterday alone. The target is to vaccinate all of Phnom Penh and Kandal by June.
It looks like May is going to be a busy month for Britcham Cambodia and our members as the country will start to open up again.
We wish you well,
The Britcham Team

The idea is to create a safe space where Cambodians and foreigners working here can share and discuss the matter with peers from different industries, backgrounds, experiences - ultimately, learning from each other. We realized there is no such group for Cambodia but there is an underlying need based on our observations and collective experience.

At the end of 2019, 92.7% of households had a connection to the grid compared to only 22.9% in 2010. UPDATED 9:22 p.m. 27 April 2021 — Phnom Penh City Hall issued its list of red, orange and yellow lockdown zones Tuesday evening, including some communes having multiple colors depending on the village.
City Hall’s list includes nine communes with red zones, including three partially, and 41 with at least some areas in orange, 11 of them partially.
Red zones refer to geographical areas where there is a severe outbreak of Covid-19 in the community, while orange is for moderate prevalence, and yellow for mild outbreaks, the document says.

In a voice message last night, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen ordered that all people in Phnom Penh and Kandal province – about 3 million people according to him – must be vaccinated.
The Premier agreed to use the 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in stock and the 400,000 doses of China-donated Sinopharm vaccine, which will arrive in Cambodia tonight, for the inoculations.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised the deployment of military forces to provide vaccines to people in the Red zones. If possible, the Prime Minister underlined, the first dose could start before May 5.
