BMCC inks MoU to Raise Awareness on Sustainability and Climate Action Practices |
The MoUs are to form collaborative partnerships with the respective organisations in raising awareness and further understanding of sustainability and climate action practices within businesses - as well as to support the BMCC Climate Action Pledge (BMCC CAP) signatories in their commitments. It also signifies the BMCC’s effort to extend support to local, Malaysian businesses to achieve their respective climate action goals on the collective journey to a net-zero economy.
“The BMCC aims to continue advocating for collaborative actions between government and businesses to address the challenges at hand in transitioning towards a net-zero economy. We are committed to playing our role as a facilitator to this network of stakeholders by developing partnerships with like-minded organisations such as UNGCMYB and BSI Malaysia, as witnessed in today’s signing – as we believe the role of the private sector in Malaysia is extremely crucial to support the national ambition to achieve carbon-neutral targets,” said Jennifer Lopez, Chief Executive Officer of BMCC.
“At UNGCMYB, we are committed to support organisations in enabling and accelerating their climate actions. Together with BMCC, we look forward to promoting sustainable practices among local organisations to help them in achieving urgently needed sustainability performance that contributes to the triple bottom line and in creating a sustainable Malaysia.” said Faroze Nadar, Executive Director of UNGCMYB.
“At BSI, we believe a focus on sustainability is vital to achieving enduring and long-term resilience. We provide a global process and standards setting framework to support organisations as they strive to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. I’m proud of this partnership with BMCC where we could be a part of the driving force of climate change in Malaysia,” shared Emmanuel Herve, Managing Director, ASEAN of BSI.
The BMCC believes that the private sector needs to rise collectively and drive the agenda through its resources, expertise and capabilities – with the BMCC content to facilitate in creating networking opportunities and partnerships that would support these commitments. The BMCC calls upon and welcomes like-minded Malaysian organisations who would like to be part of this salient network to create a difference for a sustainable future. |
At the inaugural BMCC Climate Action Series, we were joined by most of the 28 signatories to the BMCC CAP, BMCC Board members as well as organisations’ representatives who are advocates for sustainability and climate action in their respective capacities.
