Get Ready to Participate in Our Events and Activities Throughout the Malaysia Climate Action Week |
|
The week has finally arrived and we hope you are as excited as we are. It is the Malaysia Climate Action Week! Over five days, our programme features organisations and individuals that have taken active steps towards climate action through insightful discussions and site visits. This year, we hope to inspire more companies and individuals to A.C.T. - Adapt and Collaborate to Transcend above the impacts of climate change with more hands-on experiences.
Here is a snapshot of events and activities lined up this week. There is something for everyone; come join us and let's make a difference.
Day 1, 17 October 2022 - Kicking off the Malaysia Climate Action Week is the UK Smart Building & Renewable Energy Solutions Webinar. The webinar features selected companies from the UK specialising in green building solutions ranging from energy efficiency and management, renewable energy and off-grid solutions, AI for smart homes and buildings to sustainable design.
Day 2, 18 October 2022 - The highlight of the Malaysia Climate Action Week is the A.C.T. Now Conference, which gathers renowned sustainability practitioners and stakeholders to present transformational green initiatives and actionable solutions in line with this year's programme theme of A.C.T. Now. Over two different panel sessions, they will share insights on creating ESG-engaged organisations, as well as exploring how the built environment sector can contribute to achieving climate goals.
Day 3, 19 October 2022 - Eco-Site Visit & ESG Masterclass combine two different events at one location. First up, participants can learn more about the green features of award-winning Menara IQ, the new head office of HSBC located in Tun Razak Exchange during the Eco-Site Visit. After that, participate in a masterclass on corporate sustainability practices conducted by Arup.
Day 3, 19 October 2022 - In conjunction with the Malaysia Climate Action Week, we are having the BMCC Appreciation Night exclusively for our Sterling members, BMCC Partners and other important stakeholders as a token of gratitude for their support and collaborations. A series of short films will be showcased throughout the evening focused on climate issues and sustainability by the filmmakers of Studio Birthplace, which is dedicated to telling stories of our generation's most pressing issues on the environment.
Day 4, 20 October 2022 - The BMCC and the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur are inviting corporate companies to be part of The Queen's Green Canopy Tree Planting activity. Each company will pledge to plant 70 trees and this is also geared towards Malaysia's 100 million tree-planting campaign initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Our tree-planting partners, APE Malaysia and Yayasan Hijau will facilitate the planting and maintenance of the trees pledged on behalf of the companies in different location in Malaysia.
Day 5, 21 October 2022 - Last but not least, the Malaysia Climate Action Week draws to a close with the Nocturnal Urban Forest Walk. Steven Wong, an experienced wildlife guide, will take you on a 1.5 hour trek at the Shah Alam Community Forest Trail of Setia Eco Park to spot flora and fauna that are only active at night

Foreign Professionals May Enter Malaysia with Social Visit Pass |
|
|
|
Immigration Department Director General Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said foreign professionals who are urgently required to carry out critical and emergency tasks may enter the country by using the social visit pass (PLS) or PLS@XPATS. Dzaimee said employers can apply the pass online via https://mtp.imi.gov.my/plsXpats and approval would be given within three working days while the foreign nationals who need a visa can apply online.
Applicants are allowed to stay in the country for 30 days through this programme, to ensure the critical tasks to be resolved immediately. The programme was introduced as some local and international companies require foreign expertise for critical tasks such as machine maintenance, electrical installations, testing and commissioning to ensure all equipment and systems are in proper working order before they are allowed to operate, he added. |
