Connecting Through Unity at BMCC's Iftar Networking Dinner with Government Stakeholders |
The month of Ramadan is a time for us to come together as a community to break bread and share our blessings with those around us. Last week, in the spirit of thankfulness and unity, our Chairman, Mark Arthun, the Board Members, and Executive Office hosted our government stakeholders to an Iftar Networking Dinner to break fast together.
We were honoured and thankful to all who were present. The evening was an opportunity for the BMCC to thank all our distinguished government stakeholders for giving us their constant support through networking, collaborations, and in working closely with the BMCC towards the common goal of making Malaysia a great place to do business whilst building a stronger and more prosperous economy.
The BMCC is a strong believer of the strength of partnerships and networks to bridge gaps, overcome challenges, and implement solutions to build a resilient and prosperous economy. Through our government stakeholders continued support and partnerships, we are confident that the Chamber will be able to continue its mandate in fostering and strengthening the bilateral trade and business relations between Malaysia and the UK. |

BMCC in The News | The Star - Boost for M’sia-UK trade |
Trade between Malaysia and the UK, which currently stands at £5.9bil (RM32.3bil), is set to get a boost this year with the latter’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The British Malaysia Chamber of Commerce's Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Lopez told StarBiz that with the UK’s accession to the CPTPP – one of the largest free trade areas in the world, accounting for 21% of global GDP in 2021 – Malaysian exporters would benefit from the expanded preferential access to the UK market.

Meeting with Gentari and PETRONAS |
We recently had the privilege to pay courtesy visits to Charlotte Wolff-bye, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of PETRONAS and Sushil Purohit, Chief Executive Officer of Gentari.
These meetings were timely as discussions about sustainability and energy transition are becoming more and more relevant to businesses globally, including our members. The meetings were insightful as they gave us a greater understanding of the strategies and priority areas for PETRONAS and Gentari, especially in their quests for collaborations abroad.
We see potential collaborations that can be developed between the UK and Malaysia, especially in sharing of best practices and business partnerships to further the energy transition agenda. We look forward to more discussions and joint initiatives to leverage each other’s strengths to advance this important agenda. |
