Talent Matters! Keeping you up-to-date on the latest talent trends
image
The global economy is rapidly changing, demanding new and innovative approaches to talent management and career readiness. From globalisation to technological advancements, we understand that being accelerated by digitalisation has posed lots of changes and created new challenges for employers and employees alike.

Last week, we were glad to have two industry leaders, Paul Cooper of Michael Page and Guy Perring of i-Graduate, share their insights on the latest findings, trends, the changing nature of work, and the skills and competencies needed for success in today's job market.

With education, its role is to help young people get ready for the next step in life and that includes career preparedness as well as helping students become community and civil society ready. According to i-Graduate, many graduate job opportunities are competitive, so it is best for students to take steps to plan their future early on, to have ample time to gain relevant work experience, increase networks, and develop the skills employers expect of graduates.
image
Surprisingly, according to students in Malaysia by i-Graduate:
  • 90% were satisfied with all aspects of their experience at their institution
  • 75% of final-year students said their education experience had prepared them for their career goals
  • 68% will encourage their institution to family or a friend
However, according to Michael Page, due to universal economic uncertainty globally, there is a seismic change in talent sentiment, revealing the Invisible Revolution, an unprecedented transformation in human capital strategies globally. This shift is defined as:
  • A workplace cultural revolution where the talent value equation has been permanently reset
  • A shift in the talent power dynamic where talent is now in control
  • Focus on what matters most to clients to gain the right competitive edge
image
Here are 3 recommendations to navigate the Invisible Revolution according to Michael Page:
  1. Rethink your resourcing model - Less loyalty means more frequent hiring
  2. Benchmark pay - Knowledge is power when competing for top talent
  3. Rethink your EVP - Culture is the ultimate spark for significant change
