The Economic Impact of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) COVID-19 could affect the global economy in three main ways by Dr. Daniel Bachman (Senior Manager, Deloitte Services LP)
COVID-19 could affect the global economy in three main ways: by directly affecting production, by creating supply chainand market disruption, and by its financial impact on firms and financial markets. However, a great deal depends on the public’s reaction to the disease.
Much about the disease is not currently known. While public health officials are still determining the medical impacts of the virus along with certain key characteristics, such as the incubation period, we believe the economic impact will in part depend on how the public reacts to the virus. Public reaction could allow the disease to spread more quickly and widely, or it could create unnecessary costs. |

Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) is compiling information on impact of COVID-19 to companies’ business activities and performance. These information will be used by the Government of Malaysia to enhance the current stimulus measures including to introduce new measures. Companies are also encouraged to propose new/enhanced stimulus measures that will assist in mitigating the impact of COVID-19. Companies are to submit only one (1) feedback form to MITI. |
