The BMCC is compiling feedback on the impact of COVID-19 on your business activities and performance. These cover responses on (1) impact on business operations, (2) action & support and (3) any additional feedback or suggestions you may have. We will hope to share the findings of the survey with relevant stakeholders including government agencies for the benefit of our business community. The Ministry of Finance has provided more details on the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) cash aid that will be disbursed to eligible Malaysians. This is to help Malaysians from the B40 and M40 group cope with the economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. The one-off cash handouts amounting to RM10 billion are part of the RM250 billion stimulus package that was recently announced by Prime Minister.

For eligible Malaysians that have not registered with BSH or LHDN, you can apply for the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional cash aid at http://www.hasil.gov.my/. The portal will start accepting new application starting 1st April 2020.

The Ministry of Human Resource has decided that a maximum of 2 employees from any company will be allowed to return to their office to carry out the processing of pay roll and staff salaries for the duration of 1 day only, either 31 March 2020 or 1 April 2020.

The employer will need to prepare a letter / document or proof, allowing the employees in charge to return to office (full name, IC number, telephone number of officer in charge for verification). The employee will need to bring and present the letter / document to ease their movement to office should they be stopped by authorities.

The second phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO), to start on April 1, will see stricter rules being enforced by the authorities, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

The stricter rules include limiting the operational hours of supermarkets or any premises that sells essential items, public transport, petrol stations, restaurants, home food delivery as well as for taxi and e-hailing services.

Ismail said the second phase of the MCO will definitely be different from what is in place now. However, he also assured the public that it will not be a total lockdown.
