Proposals and suggestions for the drafting of Temporary Measures Bill to Mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order

The Legal Affairs Division of Prime Minister’s Department (BHEUU, JPM), is coordinating the drafting of a Temporary Measures Bill to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order. The government is committed in minimizing the economic and social impact of the spread of Covid-19 and is confident, with this Bill the post Covid-19 impact will be alleviated efficiently. This Bill will include provisions that modify existing laws for a prescribed period that impede the collective effort to revive the economy and to assist those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, BHEUU invites proposals and suggestions that could assist in the drafting of the proposed Bill.

Proposals and suggestions may be submitted below and any additional proposals may be sent via e-mail to covid19@bheuu.gov.my before or on 5th June 2020.

The modelling focussed on managing lift passenger numbers and queuing, factoring in physical distancing regulations.

“Without good data and planning, there could be potentially unsafe congestion in lobbies or many frustrated people queuing onto the street,” said Arup’s Buildings Leader in Malaysia, Fazidin Faisal."

COVID-19 relief initiative by Social Textiles movement

The BMCC is happy to support Biji-biji Initiative (BMCC Awards 2019, Social Enterprise of the Year Finalists) in their partnership with the Social Textiles movement. They have mobilised their second phase of the Covid-19 relief initiative, and have joined forces with several other social enterprises to initiate a decentralised production platform, to provide PPE Scrubs Sets. This collection of organisations is called Social Textiles.

Biji biji are currently seeking fundings and corporate partnerships, as we aim to provide a total of 50,000 PPE Scrubs Sets, providing up to a total of RM 1,250,000 income generated to individual tailors, SEs and NGOs on board.

The purpose of Social Textile, on top of providing PPEs for the frontliners, is to:
  • Improve the livelihoods of underprivileged makers as we engage with tailors & seamstresses from marginalised communities
  • Sustain Social Enterprises and NGOs in their continuous impact creation through ethical business practices
  • Provide 100% transparency in carrying out this project, including costing & hospital fulfilment, through a detailed impact report and accessibility to live data at any point during the project
