Shell Mint Hotel is Malaysia's First Gold GBI-Certified Petrol Station

Shell Malaysia’s petrol station located at Mint Hotel (along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway) here has become the first station in the country to be awarded the Provisional Gold Standard by the Green Building Index (GBI).

The station is integrated with a multi-faceted approach of combining both renewable energy (RE) and energy-efficient (EE) innovations that reflects the GBI Gold Standard requirements. Another feature of the Shell Mint Hotel station is its food waste composting machine that converts food waste into fertilisers.

Currently, Shell has three GBI-certified sites while five other stations are being assessed for GBI certification. In their pursuit of mitigating carbon emission, Shell aims to have a total of 300 solar-powered and 40 GBI-certified sites by 2021.

Vaccine Passports

  • Malaysians are consistently on the top among the 25 countries surveyed in supporting vaccine passports or similar health certificates to access the country and its public venues. They strongly believe that this will make travel and large events safe.
  • Malaysians believe the vaccine passport will be widely used by the end of the year. Japan, host country of 2021 Olympics, and United States, which has rolled out their vaccination programme efficiently, are not as optimistic as Malaysia.
