BMCC Hosts Virtual Roundtable Discussion between UK Green Tech Companies and the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA)
A virtual roundtable discussion was successfully organised by the BMCC on 4 June 2021 to connect seven UK green technology companies with the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre (MGTC), an agency under KASA. The roundtable served as a platform for the participating companies to showcase their solutions and services as well as to discuss future steps for cooperation between Malaysian and UK companies, especially in green technology. Chaired by KASA Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, this was a follow-up event by the Chamber after our participation in the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2020, organised by the MGTC.
Of the seven UK companies, four had participated in the IGEM BMCC UK Pavilion last year. The roundtable provided a good opportunity for these companies to show how much progress they have made since then, and to get insights from KASA on their current and future policies as well as initiatives implemented by the ministry on green technology. At the same time, representatives from KASA and MGTC were able to obtain first-hand information on the UK solutions, discuss and identify how these solutions could support the ministry’s initiatives and tackle current issues.
The UK companies ─ some of whom had already completed projects with local partners in Malaysia while others were currently talking to potential local clients ─ were able to experience first-hand the sincerity and support of these government agencies in helping them penetrate the Malaysian market.
Moving forward, the Chamber will continue our instrumental role working with KASA and MGTC to assist these UK companies in exploring business opportunities in Malaysia. |
