The BMCC’s 5th Business Excellence Awards Night is happening on 21 May 2024 at Sunway Resort Hotel!
Our flagship event returns to honour British and Malaysian brands and personalities across different industries who have made innovative and diligent efforts to develop the business and trade landscape.
The Awards offer a heightened standard of recognition, excellence, and progress to acknowledge bilateral achievements and success among our members. Some of our past winners include Smith & Nephew, YTL Group, Sunway Medical Centre, EcoWorld International, Sports Direct, Mott MacDonald, and Owen Mumford!

The pinnacle achievement at the BMCC Business Excellence Awards, this award recognises a UK company investing in Malaysian or a Malaysian company investing in the UK, having displayed a stellar track record of investment in the opposite country by building on its successful local businesses; bringing mutual economic benefit to both nations.
This award goes to any organisation that has successfully partnered with a UK or Malaysian counterpart over the last 2-5 years. The joint-venture collaboration and synergies created through this partnership will have driven exceptional commercial results and shown significant value-creation to the economy; capitalising on the best of UK & Malaysia expertise through a seamless partnership.
This outstanding award goes to a partnership between a UK higher or further education institution and a Malaysian organisation(s) that delivered a significant impact in the last five (5) years. The joint-venture collaboration and synergies created through this partnership will have driven exceptional results and shown significant value-creation to the education sector in Malaysia and the UK; capitalising on the best of UK & Malaysia expertise through a seamless partnership.
This award recognises and celebrates organisations across all industries that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to fostering the spirit of diversity and inclusion within the workplace through effective strategies and initiatives.
This award is given to an organisation that successfully pursued new solutions through the application of digital, innovative, and disruptive technologies to operate with greater efficiency and ultimately contributing to Malaysia’s productivity enhancement and paving the way towards technological advancement, especially in the last three years.
This award seeks to recognise the achievements of an organisation that demonstrated outstanding achievements in adopting ESG practices and ultimately contributing significantly towards the environment and communities, as well as advocating for these initiatives within their industry, supply chains, and clients.
This award seeks to recognise the achievements of small and medium enterprises that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in delivering exceptional products and/or services and contribute significantly towards their sector and the overall economy.

On 6 February, the Chamber convened its 2nd BMCC Talent Network meeting of 2024 to discuss the issues and concerns that have arisen in the talent industry as well as share best practices and expertise among members.

With a focus on the theme of creation and development of talent, discussions centred around upskilling, reskilling, entry-level workforce, DEI, and brain drain.

The BMCC recently had the opportunity to have a meeting with Rachel White, the Global President of Clean Energy and Environmental Solutions, Ricardo Plc.
It was an insightful meeting to understand Ricardo's plans in Malaysia and discuss avenues on how the Chamber could provide further support for their plans. |

Accompanying Rachel at the meeting were Annabel Bradbury, Director of International Business Strategy; Tom Buckland, Associate Director for Air Quality and Climate; and Leon Rosario, Regional President for ASEAN.

| BMCC at the Invest Selangor Hi-Tea and Networking Session |

Thank you, Invest Selangor for having us at your Hi-Tea and Networking Session last Monday at Aloft KL Sentral.
It was an enlightening afternoon with Invest Selangor's Senior Directors sharing insights on their upcoming initiatives and events for 2024. These included the 4th Selangor Investment & industrial Park Expo (SPARK) and the 8th Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC).
These key events by Invest Selangor are geared to position Malaysia as a Gateway to ASEAN and ambitiously aim to attract 400 international trade exhibitors.
They further shared insights on incentives available for companies to set up business in the Managed Industrial Park, as well as strategic plans specific to S-DAICO and S-BIOCO.
The expositions will be held from 25 to 27 July 2024, so stay tuned!

On 8 February, the BMCC team had the opportunity to visit DNB's 5G Portal Experience Centre at Exchange 106 @ TRX, an event supported by the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur.
We were welcomed by Hafiznizam Hashim and Prem Menon from Digital Nasional Berhad, who, with their team, led us on a tour of their cutting-edge space. |

The centre was curated and designed to promote the usage of 5G in Malaysia and the adoption of fifth-generation wireless cellular technology. With the support of Ericsson, the centre provides an interactive and immersive environment for visitors to understand the potential and impact of 5G technology on enterprises, consumers, and society.

Malaysia Airlines Bhd has rolled out its New Distribution Capability (NDC) platform, MHplus, globally to enhance communication capabilities and closer cooperation between the airline and its trade partners in key markets.
On 22 January, MAS stated MHplus would be available in six countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Australia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, effective Jan 23, 2024.
