Dear Subscriber, |

The Launch of our Guide to UK-Malaysia Education Excellence at the British Council's Education Roundtable and Partnership Showcase |
We are thrilled to announce that on 28 February, Her Excellency Ailsa Terry CMG, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia officially launched BMCC's Guide to UK-Malaysia Education Excellence! This was made possible with the invaluable support from our esteemed partner, the British Council, at their UK-MY Higher Education Roundtable and Partnership Showcase 2024. Education has always stood out as a cornerstone in the longstanding relationship between Malaysia and the United Kingdom, reflecting shared ambitions to elevate human capital and continually enhance the quality and relevance of education. Despite a slight plateau in Malaysian enrolments in UK transnational education (TNE) in recent years, the country remains the second-largest TNE market in East Asia. Malaysia proudly maintains its regional leadership, representing 54% of all Southeast Asia enrolments in UK TNE. Hosting numerous UK branch campuses and partnering programmes within local universities, Malaysia continues to attract students from across the region. To date, Malaysia demonstrates a steadfast commitment to fostering new higher education collaborations spanning transnational education, research, and mobility between the UK and Malaysia. "There is a lot of potential to widen access to education and equip the students of today with the skills they will need to thrive in the future global economy. This practical guide will help unlock more partnerships that will help us meet the educational challenges of the digital and post-pandemic era." Her Excellency Ailsa Terry, CMG |
Also present to support the launch of the Guide was the Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia, YB Datuk Tan Sri Mustapha Sakmud.
The BMCC’s Education Guide is a comprehensive and trusted resource on British education and educational partnerships between Malaysia and the UK. It aims to illuminate pathways for students aspiring to access world-class education, guide parents through the intricacies of educational choices, offer expatriates insights into Malaysia’s education sector, and present investors with dynamic opportunities within the country’s educational landscape. |
Through our Guide, we aim to make a significant impact by capturing the interest of international students and contributing to Malaysia’s journey towards establishing itself as a distinguished global education hub. With its insightful content on British education, educational partnerships, and the diverse opportunities within the BMCC Network, this publication promises to be an indispensable companion for individuals embarking on their educational journey. |

BMCC's Excellence Showcase Series on UK Technologies in Energy Transition with Arup and Mott Mac |
On March 4, brilliant minds converged at the BMCC's Excellence Showcase Series: Showcasing UK Technologies in Energy Transition on a panel moderated by Azman Nasir, Chair of our Energy Committee and Regional Director of The EIC (Energy Industries Council) and closed by our CEO, Jennifer Lopez. Speaking at the showcase were Scott Selkirk, Technical Director of Digital Solution from Mott MacDonald, and Nick Ash, Associate Principal and Southeast Asian Energy Leader for Arup.
Scott Selkirk presented their newly developed technology, Carbon Twin, an embodied carbon visualisation solution that is designed to understand carbon. The technology was developed to understand carbon hotspots at a former gold mining settlement in Kidston, North Queensland in order to transform it into a renewable energy hub.
Nick Ash presented on the topic of strategies for low-carbon hydrogen integration and unveiled a comprehensive overview of Arup's energy system modelling and a couple of case studies. The public sector has used these strategies to inform policy decisions and priorities for channelling financial support, and corporations have used similar strategies to identify market opportunities to capitalise on global trends towards decarbonisation.
The discussion fruitfully sparked and answered many questions on energy transition technologies.
