About this event

On September 28, 1-4 pm ET, the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office of Educational Technology (OET) will host the National Digital Equity Summit at the Barnard Auditorium in the Lyndon Baines Johnson Building. As part of OET’s Digital Equity Education Roundtables (DEER) Initiative, this invite-only event convenes approximately 200 equity-minded organizations, state and local systems leaders, federal agencies, and educational technology experts to discuss how broadband investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law can be leveraged to better serve students furthest from digital opportunities and close the digital divide, thereby supporting transformative learning experiences empowered through technology. The event will simultaneously serve as both an announcement of OET’s new guidance resource on strategies for equitable broadband adoption, developed through the DEER initiative, as well as an opportunity for ED’s community to collaboratively initiate commitments, partnerships, and action steps aligned to the core tenets of this new resource. Furthermore, the event will serve as a launching point for the next phase of OET’s leadership on this issue, which aims to cultivate a community of leaders from various sectors, who collaboratively support the advancement of digital equity for learners and families/caregivers, and communities.
