POSITION SUMMARY
The Arizona STEM Ecosystem Project Manager manages, organizes, and coordinates the Arizona STEM Ecosystem Hubs and Working Groups. The Project Manager provides strategic guidance to teams, project managers and community organizers in alignment with SciTech's mission of cultivating an ecosystem of conscious STEM communities through awareness, connections and empowerment. The Project Manager works closely with the Arizona STEM Ecosystem Director to oversee program-specific implementation and operation. The Project Manager will oversee and manage employees to develop efficient strategies and tactics to produce results and fulfill on grant deliverables.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, organize, and coordinate the Arizona STEM Ecosystem Hubs:

    • Oversee a team of part-time STEM Ecosystem Hub Coordinators, covering regions including but not limited to: Coconino STEM Hub, Pima STEM Hub, and Yavapai STEM Hub.

    • Oversee local implementation of grant deliverables and SciTech programs within STEM Ecosystem Hubs.

    • Develop and monitor deadlines and activities for STEM Ecosystem Hubs and related projects.

  • Serve as Co-Chair for the East Valley STEM Alliance and West Valley STEM Hub:

    • Work with each group's Community Co-Chair to facilitate monthly/quarterly meet-ups for network members.

    • Coordinate in-person, online and hybrid STEM meetups, networking opportunities, and school/community engagements.

    • Share regional STEM communications about relevant local opportunities to hub members

  • Moderate & facilitate online forums for Arizona STEM Ecosystem Working Groups, including but not limited to:

    • STEM Workforce Working Group; STEM in Libraries Working Group; Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in STEM Working Group; Sustainability Education & Outreach Working Group; Pre-College STEM Programs Working Group.

  • Conduct Assessments:

    • Document, measure, and evaluate Hub Coordinator efforts to assess the impact of SciTech's initiatives and programming. Lead and mentor Hub Coordinators and evaluate performance, as appropriate.

    • Gather data, prepare reports and present updates regarding program progress and achievements during, but not limited to, staff and board meetings, conferences and community engagement events.

  • Participate in Additional SciTech Programs: Attend and support SciTech programming such as the annual STEM & Innovation Summit, Arizona SciTech Festival, and Chief Science Officers to foster STEM engagement in Arizona. Participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings, team meetings, touch-base meetings, and others as needed.

  • Provide Strategic Guidance: Work with STEM Ecosystem Director to assess program performance and make pertinent recommendations to optimize potential return on investment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated proficiency in partnership development.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management skills and strategic planning principles and practices.

  • Three to five years of experience managing collaborative project teams

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Established network of Arizona businesses, community and government organizations preferred.

  • Experience in analysis of program and event effectiveness preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Ability to organize workflow, forecast time to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with diverse organizations in business, community, government, and education.

  • Ability to plan small- to large-scale events.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience using project management tools such as Salesforce, GSuite,

  • Demonstrated ability to network, make impactful presentations, and speak publicly.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and think on one’s feet.

  • Demonstrated social media experience including blog posts and the use of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position requires sitting for extended periods of time. Occasionally requires standing, squatting, reaching and bending. Requires ability to receive information through oral communication both in-person and on telephone. Manual dexterity needed for using computer keyboard. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Must have adequate vision to operate computer and complete paperwork. Ability to travel throughout Arizona and work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as assigned workstation, computer and copier available for use.
