Guided Bird Walks

Spread your wings and get out birding!

VARC offers monthly guided bird walks to give people the opportunity to learn and practice their skills with local bird ID experts!

British Columbia is home to some of North America’s best birdwatching opportunities and our guided walks will help you improve your knowledge of our local birds and get to know them – whether you’re an expert birder or just taking off.

The region enjoys abundant bird life thanks to its location on the Pacific Flyway and an environment that includes multiple habitat types including temperate rainforest, alpine landscapes, ocean, wetlands and waterways, riparian woodlands, and grassland.

From eagles, owls, gulls, herons, snow geese and shorebirds to sparrows, warblers, tanagers, finches and hummingbirds, our region is full of amazing birds

Expert guides lead these group walks to local birding hotspots, and are happy to answer your questions along the way.

Please remember, these walks go rain or shine and start early – if you have your heart set on seeing many species, you’ll have to accept the fact that birds are most vocal and active when the sun comes up, making them easier to spot and identify during those early hours!

Booking is always required for these popular events.
