The state and private sectors have joined hands to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) generate more than 1 billion baht in revenue through a new trade show that will feature their products and services while supporting new business matching.

"SMEs joining the event can promote their products and services through business-to-business and business-to-customer transactions as well as partner with other companies to seek new business opportunities," said Apichit Prasoprat, vice-chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

The three-day event, scheduled to take place from Aug 24-26 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, was jointly organised by the FTI and the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (Osmep).

Participating SMEs come from various businesses, including food and beverages, furniture, construction, clothing, digital products and medical services.

During the event, entrepreneurs will be provided with latest information pertaining to SMEs, which includes details of marketing trends in 2024 and cost management for small and medium-sized businesses.

They can also meet with experts to receive advice on business laws and regulations as well as business development projects.

Mr Apichit said the event will form part of a series of efforts to help SMEs generate 400 billion baht in economic value under the Thai SME-GP scheme.

Initiated by Osmep and the Comptroller-General's Department, the scheme facilitates SMEs that wish to sell their products and services to the government sector.

Not only does it give SMEs easier access to state procurement projects, but the scheme would also promote SMEs which market products and services that are made in Thailand, according to Veerapong Malai, the director-general of Osmep.

The promotion of locally-made products aligns with the FTI's Made-in-Thailand scheme, which supports local products that will be used in state infrastructure development and other investment projects.

Several thousand SMEs have joined the Made-in-Thailand scheme.
