Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) is proud to announce that our Provost and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi, has been appointed as a member of the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) national task force to facilitate private higher learning institutions as an industry (PEMUDAH IPTS) for the year 2024 - 2025.
The task force was established by MoHE in 2020 as an effort to recognise private higher education as a strategic industry for economic growth. Professor Mushtak was appointed as a member of the task force on 29 January 2024 in his capacity and role as the Chairman of the Vice Chancellors' Council for Private Universities (VCCPU). The task force, comprising various government agencies and the private higher learning institutions would be identifying issues, challenges and offer the best solutions for the institutions to advance globally.
