2023 JumpStart Virtual Conference: Reigniting the Fire for Racial Justice
July 25, 2023, from 9:00 am–4:00 pm CT

The Vanderbilt University Initiative for Race Research and Justice (RRJ) will host our fourth JumpStart Virtual Conference for educators on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 9:00 am–4:00 pm CT. The professional learning opportunity will provide PreK-12 educators, graduate students, university faculty and staff as well as community members across the nation an opportunity to learn about ways to continue working towards racial justice and equity in the current climate.

There will be a breakout session focused on leadership.

This year, the JumpStart Virtual Conference is more urgent than ever. The theme is Here to Stay: Reigniting the Fire for Racial Justice.

Our RRJ team works hard to ensure the JumpStart Virtual Conference is accessible to and potentially transformative for students, educators, and community members. Last year, over 500 people registered for the conference and had the opportunity to hear from three outstanding keynote speakers. Participants also engaged with field experts across 18 intensive breakout sessions. Your support allows us to keep registration costs low ($30 for nonstudents/$15 for students), provide books for all who attend, promote the event, support administrative time and effort, and compensate a cadre of engaging speakers and facilitators.

Focal Areas: Teaching, Learning, Leadership, Community Organizing, Policymaking, Prison Transformation, Critical Race Theory, Law, Restorative Justice, Classroom Management, Cultural Relevance, History, Curriculum, Assessment, Relationship Building, Special Education, Sport

Target Audience: Practicing PreK- 12 Educators, Higher Education Researchers and Practitioners, Community Organizers, Families and Parents
