B.Grimm Power Plc (BGRIM) has announced the start of two natural gas-fired powerhouses, each with 140 megawatts in generation capacity.

The two plants are undertaken by B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 2 and B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 3 at the S Industrial Estate Angthong.

Harald Link, president of BGRIM, and Chayanin Debhakam, chairperson of the Singha Estate executive committee, laid a stone to mark the opening ceremony on Monday.

Mr Link said the two powerhouses feature cutting-edge technologies that allow them to yield more electrical output than conventional systems.

They are scheduled to start commercial operations in 2023 with 280MW of their combined output transmitted to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand under a 25-year supply agreement, with all remaining production going to industries at the S Industrial Estate Angthong.

Mr Chayanin said Singha Estate was delighted to be a part of this milestone.

The two co-gen power plants are environmentally friendly by utilising technology with turbines and gas to produce electricity. Not only is this technology high production capacity and low carbon emission, and helps reduce global warming, but it is also uplifting S Angthong, the industrial estate where the plants are located.

"I would like to thank B.Grimm [Power] for a great partnership. We hope that this will be the beginning of more collaborations to support each other's businesses and success in the future," said Mr Chayanin.

Meanwhile, Mr Link said BGRIM has been ramping up investment at home and abroad there would be a total of some 140 billion baht over the next five years.

The investment will go towards developing power stations under established power supply contracts and new projects under negotiation, including greenfield developments and the acquisition of assets.
