The Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was furious during a visit to the United States (US) last month, looking for clarity on the financing commitment by the US, Japan, and other countries under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

"When I went to Washington last month, we explained [that Indonesia needs the JETP]. They said yes, but then I asked, "Where's the money?" Apparently, they were just talking," he said on Tuesday.

Apparently, there is still no follow-up from these countries on whether Indonesia can use the funds promised under the JETP scheme. "If the loan interest they offer is the same as the commercial loan interest, forget it. If we can do it ourselves, they must not dictate to us. If they cannot give [the interest rate] of the AAA countries, forget it because they will disrupt the Indonesian economy," he said.
