CONTINENTAL COMPOUNDERS Established in 2005, Continental Compounders are plastic compounding specialists based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. We test, develop and custom manufacture rigid and flexible PVC & thermoplastic elastomer compounds and service a large share of the Sub–Saharan plastic-making market, as well as 45 countries through Europe, South America, Australasia, and Africa. With both our PVC and Engineering divisions, we currently have the capacity to produce 60 000 tons of compounds per year.

It has always been our mission to work together with our customers to make high quality custom pvc and thermoplastic compounds that are tailored around their manufacturing processes and products. Which is why we spend a great deal of time in understanding our customers and their unique businesses.
Our team works tirelessly to ensure that our end-product works perfectly for its intended purpose, visiting our customers’ facilities, watching how they work, and suggesting areas that they can improve on in their production line. We also provide onsite calibration so that we can rule out any ‘kinks’ in the system which may impact the shaping and forming of our plastic compound products. We don’t stop until we find the perfect solution to our customers’ problems!
We have many years of experience in working with different types of manufacturers – in industries ranging from automotive to cabling – and in outputting world-class compounds that are industry-specific.

While we have a large supply of various master batches in stock, we can also create custom, purpose-built plastic compounds on request. We make different types of additives to assist in a number of different manufacturing processes, such as extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, vacuum extrusion (pipes & tubes) and blown film extrusion.

CHANGE THE AESTHETIC APPEAL OF PLASTIC PRODUCTS
APPEARANCE ADDITIVES
We have a sizeable selection of master batches that can be added to change the aesthetic appeal of plastic products. These can change plastics to have a matt or gloss finish, or they can change the plastic’s colour. However, we encourage our customers to seek our advice when adding colourants, as the way in which you add colour to your particular plastic can affect its behavioural properties.

Our Engineering Compounders division works with thermoplastic elastomer compounds. These are robust plastics which can be melted and repurposed.
pvc compounds
Our Continental Compounders department deals with PVC Compounds. PVC is a synthetic plastic polymer, which can be made into rigid or flexible form.

We have spent over four decades researching and developing compounds and continually improving their quality. At every turn, we strive to foster a culture of continual innovation within our company and push the limits of plastic compound manufacture.
Our strength lies in our technical team who believe in working outside of corporate silos and bringing together the knowledge acquired from each department in order to deliver the best results.
Our fully kitted laboratory allows us to pass our compounds through a number of rigorous tests to determine their strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately work towards improving the quality and properties of our compounds.

In our plastic testing and compound production, we take care to handle plastic responsibly. We view plastic as a precious resource and believe it should be treated as such. Continental Compounders are founding members of SAVA (Southern African Vinyls Association), and we encourage and enforce international best practices for our PVC products and processes. We promote the safe use of additives, such as Heavy Metal Free (HMF) stabilisers and pigment, and we actively work to expand our recycling capacity and involvement in recycling programmes. We are passionate about recycling and work to tread as lightly on the planet as possible in order to leave no footprint behind. We do this to secure a better future for generations to come.
