Exodus Ban: No Public Transport

Summary

The Transportation Ministry has issued a regulation that will ban all public transports from operating during the 2021 Eid al-Fitr. "The control function will manifest through the prohibition on the use or operation of land, sea, air, and rail-based public transports starting from May 6 to 17, 2021," the Transportation Ministry’s spokesperson, Adita Irawati, stated on Thursday (4/8).

The details of the prohibition appear in the Transportation Ministerial Regulation No. 13/2021 on the public transport control during Eid al-Fitr to prevent COVID-19 transmissions. Adita revealed that the regulation was the ministry’s response to the government’s decision to ban the customary homecoming exodus during this year’s Eid al-Fitr. It would also pose as a follow-up of the COVID-19 Task Force Circular No. 13/2021 on the exodus ban.
