Govt to Start Decommissioning Three Coal Plants This Year

PLTU
Summary

The government plans to decommission two to three coal-fired power plants (PLTU) this year. Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif revealed that the plan is currently being discussed with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank. "Hopefully, it can be concluded at the end of the year," Arifin said on Friday.

However, Arifin refused to specify how much the project costs or which plants the ministry targets. He only said that these coal-fired power plants are in Java and have been operating for more than 30 years. "The cost is already in the feasibility study, and it's undisclosed," he said.
