Summary

Indonesia’s Energy Ministry collaborates with the Australian Government to develop carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) initiatives in Indonesia.

The Ministry’s Oil and Gas Program Development Mustafid Gunawan said that the collaboration is a result of the Letter of Intent (LoI) signed between the two parties on Sept 1, 2022, regarding establishing an Energy Dialogue.

Under the agreement, the two countries have developed an energy cooperation program with several workstreams, such as CCUS and energy and infrastructure resources. The scope of the workstreams covers knowledge sharing, networking, policy workshops, and site visits.

“The Indonesian government recognizes the importance of collaboration among all relevant parties and stakeholders, including in engineering, safety, economy, and regulatory drafting, to successfully develop CCUS initiatives,” Mustafid said on Friday.
